About the Artist
Amanda’s practice is influenced by multiple themes including domesticity, innocence and popular culture, to create works that weave together issues of gender stereotypes and sexual commodification. She investigates the connection between these themes and images or items from her own personal history – an event, a person or place, physical or ephemeral. While the focus of her initial studies was printmaking, her love of textiles and interest in the ‘genderisation’ of embroidery have been strong influences on her. She works as a printmaker and textile artist, has had solo exhibitions in Newcastle as well as exhibiting in many regional galleries in NSW. Amanda is an active member of the Newcastle Printmakers Workshop, a member of the Make Space collective and was a mentor for the Newcastle Art Space in 2023.
