THE FINALE
The HORIZONS Creative Industries Career Launchpad program finale will be at SPACE Gallery in Coonabarabran on 7 December. We're looking forward to celebrating the wins our young people have had within this program and finding out what's next for them. Annabelle Dunlop (Music), Anikan Evans (Visual Art Digital), Steven Hopwood (Music and Theatre), and Georgia Spence (Illustration) will join our team and special guest, HORIZONS project manager, Fabian Pertzel, to share their experiences and perhaps inspire the next generation of young people to launch into a creative industries career.

Five young people keen to understand more about opportunities in the creative industries applied through Orana Arts to the Regional Futures HORIZONS Creative Industries career launchpad program, funded by the Office of Regional Youth through the Regional Youth Incentive Program and administered by the Regional Arts Network. They are:

Aimed at 16 to 27 year olds in Regional NSW, Horizons will provide mentoring and a career development, supporting 75 young people from 15 Regional Arts Development Organisations (RADOs) across the State. 14 mentors will support groups within the program over 18 months of the program.

75 young people have been paired with 14 successful practitioners from their chosen field working, within Regional NSW, enabling them to connect to a network of peers, as well as better understanding creative career opportunities within a regional context.

MENTOR APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED
Artists with practices of all artforms, based in regional NSW, and who have a passion for supporting the next generation of creatives, are asked to consider applying to be a Horizons Mentor. You will be connected with 5 – 6 young people, aged between 16 – 25 years, who have an interest in a similar field of creative practice that your career has focused on.
By the end of the 7-month mentoring program, we want the participants to have a deeper understanding of the opportunities for a creative career, be inspired to continue developing their practice and to have greater confidence in being a regionally-based practitioner.

YOUTH APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED
The Regional Arts Network, of which Orana Arts is a member, has launched a creative industries career launchpad project called Horizons. Expressions of interest are now open.
Aimed at 16 to 27 year olds in Regional NSW, Horizons will provide mentoring and a career development program over 18 months, supporting 75 young people from across the State.
Orana Arts Executive Director, Alicia Leggett says this program is ideal for anyone thinking or wanting to pursue a career in the creative industries, from the visual and performing arts, to film, broadcast, sound, music, design and marketing, gaming, architecture and more.
“Participants will be paired with experienced mentors from their chosen field to address the needs and interests of each individual and support them to connect to a strong network of peers early in their careers.
“Our aim is to provide participants with new pathways to explore work and study pathways in the creative industries.
“The Regional Arts Network expect this new project to be dynamic and transformative for those young people who put their hand up to be involved.”
The Regional Arts Network is made up of the 15 Regional Arts organisations across NSW is embarking on a new State wide project for regional youth call Horizons: Creative Industries Career Launchpad. The previous RAN project was Regional Futures.
